Architecting on ServiceNow is not about building forms, workflows, or integrations. Those are the visible parts. Architecture lives in the structure beneath them, in the decisions that shape how the system will behave long after the initial implementation is complete.
In Servicenow it is relatively straightforward to make something work. But making something work is not the same as architecting it. Architecture begins when decisions are made with time in mind, when the focus shift from solving the problem in front of you to shaping a system that will continue to change, upgrade, and scale over time.
The role of the architect becomes less about building and more about protecting. Protecting the data model, the upgradability, the scalability of the platform and capacity to keep coordinating the flow of work in the organization. Protecting the ability of the platform to evolve.
